Bathroom Plumbing

Bathrooms are a center of activity in your home, which is why it is essential to keep your bathroom plumbing working correctly.

Several plumbing issues can arise in your bathroom, from problems with your toilet, faucet, fixtures, and shower. We can help you address all of these common bathroom repair issues.

Toilet Repair

Your toilet is something you rely on to work every time you use it. However, there is a good chance that at some point in the toilet's lifespan, you will experience some issues with it.

Clogged Toilet

A full or partial clog can prevent water from flushing properly. Flushing items that are not biodegradable, such as paper towels, sanitary pads, baby wipes, diapers, and other items, can result in a clog.

Small kids can cause a clog if they try to flush a toy or other object.

Toilet clogs are not usually located too far down the drain and can be fixed with a plunger. If that doesn’t do the job, we have lots of tools and tricks at M&E Plumbing for effectively unclogging your toilet.

Phantom Flushing

If your toilet is making flushing sounds when no one is using the toilet, this is known as “phantom flushing” or “ghost flushing.” In addition to being surprising and annoying, it is also a sign that something is wrong internally with your toilet.

Phantom flushing is generally caused by the flapper not sealing properly or the chain that connects to the handle not working correctly. Generally, all you need to do to fix it is replace the flapper.

Continuous Water Trickle

A trickling toilet, where water is continually flowing into the bowl at a slow rate, may not seem like a big deal, but it can easily consume 200 gallons of water a day!

A continuous water trickle can generally be solved by replacing the flapper on the toilet. If your toilet bowl is cracked, it will have to be replaced.

Water Leaks

You shouldn’t be stepping in water when you use your toilet.

If your toilet tank or bowl is cracked and leaking water, you need to replace the toilet tank or bowl. You can replace just the damaged part, or you can replace your entire toilet at once.

A bad toilet ring seal can also cause water to leak from your toilet, which can result in damage to your subflooring if not addressed.

Slow Filling

If your toilet is slow to fill up, there are four main reasons this could be happening:

  • A clogged plumbing vent
  • A clogged drain
  • Faulty plumbing
  • Blocked pipe

We can easily analyze your toilet, figure out what is causing the slow filling, and fix the issue for you, getting your toilet filling up at a regular rate once again!

Cracked Bowl or Base

Toilet bowls and bases are strong; however, they are not damage proof. We can install a new toilet for you if you have a cracked toilet bowl or base.

Not Flushing

For your toilet to work, it has to flush. The most common reason a toilet will not flush is a clog. Here are some additional reasons why your toilet will not flush:

  • Problem with the toilet handle
  • The tank’s water level is too low
  • Flapper or fill valve problem
  • Drain line issue

We can help you figure out why your toilet is not flushing and fix the primary cause so you can start to use your toilet again!

There is a wide range of issues that can impact your toilet. No matter what is holding your toilet back from performing as it should, M&E Plumbing can repair or replace your toilet.

Faucets Repair

Your bathroom faucets are high-use items that can get worn down over time. Several bathroom faucet issues can arise and impact the performance of your bathroom faucets.

Exterior Rust

If you see rust on the exterior of your faucet, there is a good chance that rust has formed on the inside of your faucet as well. Rust can impact the quality of the tap water. It is not smart to drink water from a rusty faucet.

Rust on bathroom faucets is a common issue that results from continuous use. If your faucet is rusty, it is time to replace it with a newer faucet.

Low Pressure

Many older faucets have aerators at their opening. The tiny holes in the aerator can get clogged with dirt and debris, which reduces the water pressure from that faucet. In that case, the aerator needs to be replaced.

Other times, leaking pipes and blockages can cause low water pressure. Or the constrictor valve inside your faucet may be worn out.

No Water From the Bathroom Faucet

If there is no water from your bathroom faucets, ensure the shut-off valve is open. If the shut-off valve is open, there may be sediment buildup that is impeding the water flow. The faucet needs to be removed, and each chamber cleaned to restore the water flow.

Dripping Faucet

A dripping faucet is not only annoying but can also result in a lot of wasted water and raise your water bill. Dripping faucets are often a result of a damaged or dislodged washer that needs to be replaced.
